Summer 2020

Achievement Bute has an action-packed programme of online activities planned for the summer school holidays! We will be posting activities every day from Monday to Saturday throughout the summer. As well as demonstrating fun activities and setting challenges for you to try at home we even have limited supplies of FREE Dens Packs of useful bits and bobs to help you create your den if you don’t have much stuff lying around at home. 'Gone Viral' (Wednesdays)'

Our Jumping off the Stage project has “Gone Viral” and we are making a short fantasy film which has been scripted based on ideas generated by children on Bute during the lockdown. This project is for children aged 6-13 and will involve learning lines, taking part in rehearsals using Zoom, and being filmed by someone in your own household and sending in clips to be edited by us. Children must register with Achievement Bute to participate and places are limited, so don’t delay, sign up today!

'The Sound of Summer' (Thursdays)'

If you love Musicals, then join us for a one-of-a-kind, brand new singing project every Thursday this Summer! Sing through Broadway Hits from Wicked and Mamma Mia to Disney, all from the comfort of your own home! Work alongside the Directors of Strathclyde University’s Musical Theatre Society as well as some very talented local musicians! Connect with friends via zoom for weekly catch-ups and grow in confidence singing some of your favourite songs! If you are between the ages of 8-18 years old then sign up for some fun free music making, no experience necessary.

'Youth Club' (Fridays)'

Friday night is Youth Club Night, coronavirus or no coronavirus. Places in our Virtual Youth Club are limited to those of secondary school age, who must be registered with Achievement Bute. The sessions take place between 7pm and 9pm and include quizzes, games and other activities chosen by participants.

'Bute Heritage Hunt' (Saturdays)'

On Saturdays Local Archaeologist Paul Duffy and his Research Assistant Zander Paterson will be answering the questions you have about archaeology, heritage and the past on Bute. This is a fun family project that will encourage you to get out and about and discover things you never knew about the island’s history. There will be challenges, and prizes! Check out the introductory video (above) to find out how you can get involved and tune in to our YouTube channel (will be shared across Social Media platforms) every Saturday (from 18th July to 8th August 2020) to see if Paul and Zander have picked your question to answer!
